With last year’s theme, Movie Festival, the Caviteño Architects drew inspiration from the movie Harry Potter by wearing their black ‘togas’.  From Harry Potter, the Caviteños jumped into bolder, fiercer and more resourceful outfits as they turned to be ‘Street Fighters’.

The theme for this year’s Davies Fellowship Night was ‘Cartoon Festival’ or in a simpler term ‘Toon Fest’.

The event was held last April 21, 2012 at SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay City as the culminating event of the 38th United Architects of the Philippines National Convention (UAP NatCon) with the theme ‘Architectural Pride: Landmark, Leadership, and Legacy.

Almost all the delegates flock at the venue with their cartoon-inspired costumes.  While the entire registered participants for the best in costume, ramped their dress-to-kill outfits on the provided runway.

There were two categories for the best in costume competition: the Duo Category and the Ensemble Category.  The Caviteño Architects participated in the latter together with major contenders from District B3, the Alabang and Makati CBD Chapters.

The Toy Story Story 2 of Baguio Chapter received a whopping grand prize amounting to Php 30,000.00, while Php 10,000.00 and Php 5,000.00 for the 2nd and 3rd placers respectively.  From the Duo Category, the first placer received Php 3,000.00, while Php 2,000.00 for the second and Php 1,000.00 for the third.  All the non-winners on the Ensemble Category received a consolation prize of Php 5,000.00 each.

Though Cavite Architects did not win, the Chapter was so  proud and grateful for all the support, cheers and applause that they got from the audience.  According to one of them, “For us, it’s just purely for fun, what matters most is we participated, we enjoyed it and we considered it as a learning experience for competitions like this, and that’s the heart of a true champion and the spirit of the ‘Best Chapter’ “. A proud Cavite Chapter member Ar. Arlene Siongco also said "Hindi man kayo ang nanalo officially, sa akin panalo pa rin kayo - hindi nyo binigo ang chapter! Para makabuo at mag-qualify sa "ENSEMBLE" category marami sa inyo hinugot na lang at the last minute ... (si Arch. Kristin nga, pinag-akyat lang ng shawl na gagamitin ni Arch. Hannah, hindi na namin pinalabas ng room at naging si Maki!) Salamat! Mabuhay ang mga Arkitektong Kabitenyo!"

The team has vowed and is committed to to bring home the bacon in next years competition.
